Getting involved

I want to:

Before you start planning, a few things to keep in mind:

  • Lawrence 2026 has a Culture & Experiences Committee — including KU Lawrence leaders — that is already working on communitywide events. See if you might be duplicating efforts or pulling attendance away from each other's activities. Check out the Lawrence 2026 calendar and the Explore Lawrence calendar.
  • FIFA has strict parameters around use of its marks, name and streaming of matches. However, FIFA does offer guidance on how to celebrate via an event without creating an unauthorized association with the organization. Look for FIFA guidance on the KC 2026 media hub and well as the KC 2026 community playbook for events.

If you have an event in the works:

  • Maximize publicity by emailing Lawrence 2026 about what you are planning.
  • If you will need buses for your event, contact KU Transit as soon as possible.
  • Track costs associated with your event should outside funding be available for World Cup activities at KU.

Lawrence and Kansas City are expecting visitors from around the world, and we want to be especially welcoming to visitors from our base camp countries. This may be of particular importance to university spaces like museums that often attract out-of-town visitors.

FIFA's official languages are English, Spanish, French and German, and the base camp countries have their own language needs. If you need translation assistance, contact the Office of International Affairs as soon as possible.
